Ready-Robot Game Proposal

This is the initial proposal document created at the start of the game's development (2/18/21), reformatted and uploaded here for your viewing pleasure.

Ready-Robot:

Planetary Revival Project

Sasquatch and Sons

Keywords:

Exciting, Fun for the whole family, Out of this world, casual

Target player experience:

We are targeting players at all experience levels, though we’d like to focus on players with little to no experience with videogames. We plan to have intuitive and simple to use controls that don’t make use of a controller, making it easier for players who have never or don’t normally play games with one (they won’t need to overcome the hurdle of gaining the muscle memory for controller layouts).

Core Diagram

  1) Core Mechanic:

  • The player must use their stylus/finger/mouse to wrangle various creatures by encircling them. This mechanic is going to be essentially the same mechanic from the Pokemon Ranger series.
  • Each of the different creatures will have different requirements to capture them; this includes how much they will try to escape and how many times you will need to complete a circle around them.

  2) Secondary Mechanics:

  • The different creatures that the player collects will help them in creature encounters, will allow them to reach new areas, and will help to accomplish the main long-term goal of fixing the planet’s ecosystem.
    • Creatures collected can assist the player with a one-time use attack in battle that will lower the enemy creature's stamina slightly.
    • Creatures collected can be used to open up new areas of the world through terraforming and other helpful tasks.
    • Creatures collected will help to terraform the planet passively and fix the ravaged world.

  3) Progression

  • The creatures that the player is collecting will get more difficult to capture. The difficulty is based on two factors; aggression and agility:
    • Aggression: This stat is in regards to how aggressive the creature will be towards the player when getting captured; specifically, how hard will they try to break the circle.
    • Endurance: This stat refers to the number of times the player will have to encircle the creature to capture them.
  • These stats each have three difficulty levels: Low, Medium, and High. This leads to a total of nine separate creatures that we will (initially) have in our game.
  • As the player captures and enlists the aid of the planet’s inhabitants, new areas will open up with even more creatures to enlist and more of the world to recondition and terraform.

  4) Narrative

  • You play as Reconditioning Eco-Unit X, RE-X for short. You have been sent to a distant planet suffering from a major ecological disaster as part of the Planetary Revival Project. Your mission is to restore the planet to its former glory with the assistance of the local fauna that still remains.
